Stan’s career began by selling all insurance lines, real estate, preparing income tax returns and delivering livestock feed in rural Iowa in 1977. From there, he moved to Idaho where he worked for Old Northwest Company in the wholesale benefits business. Stan then joined the firm of Fred S James where he specialized in self-funded benefits business.
Through the transitions of owners, like Transamerica and London broker Sedgwick and name changes from Fred S James to James Benefits to Sedgwick James to Sedgwick, Stan moved up the ladder from sales to sales management to the President of the Idaho operation and later in 1993 moved to Minnesota to become the President of the Minnesota Sedgwick operation.
In 1998, Marsh bought out Sedgwick and Stan became part of the Marsh Advantage America executive team which was responsible for the small employer segment of the marketplace. (Less than 300 lives & both benefits and P&C)
In 2005, Stan left the broker world and joined The American Enterprise Group located in Des Moines, Iowa where he developed a new distribution channel working with independent agents selling the American Republic branded products.
In September of 2007, Stan re-joined the broker world by becoming part of the Bearence Management Group leadership team. Stan’s role with Bearence is to drive growth through acquisitions and leveraged relationships that come with over 30 years in the business. Since Stan joined the firm, they have grown from four people to over 60 people in Minnesota, with offices in Des Moines and Kansas City. Stan is responsible for all aspects of the Minnesota operation.
