Steve grew up in Minneapolis and started his insurance career in 1980. He founded Tousley Financial in 1991 with a focus on providing value and quality counsel. The agency grew to 175 small business clients. He was approached by Bearence in 2007 and, seeing a great opportunity for his agency and clients alike, merged with Bearence in 2008. 

Steve has embraced the “Redefining Risk” model and is excited to see how this approach is helping business owners, officers, and managers, mitigate and coordinate all their risk through a single, multifaceted source. He continues to provide innovative yet proven solutions to his clients, insuring against the things they hope will never happen, so they can focus on all the things they hope will happen.

Currently, Steve serves on The Medica Broker Advisory Council that is made up of metro area brokers and several top Medica executives. He was also named by Twin City Business Magazine (for the third consecutive year) as a Five-Star Professional, an honor awarded to the top seven percent of Twin City brokers. Steve is also credited with implementing the very first My Plan by Medica – a Defined Contribution plan with 20 different employee options.

He and his family live in Burnsville and are very involved in sports, dance, school, church, and several ministries.
